Job Summary

Our Transportation Group currently has a vacancy for a Highways/ Traffic Engineers within our Roads Team in a potential project office in Gloucester to support our local delivery.

You will have achieved, or close to achieving, Chartered status and will have an excellent grounding in highways/ traffic engineering design and has excellent project management experience. You will have significant experience of working as part of multi-disciplinary project team developing designs for multi modal or mode specific engineering schemes, highway maintenance and road safety schemes. The role would suit a self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic national team in a new location.

Job Duties:

  • Project Manage infrastructure projects from inception through to hand over

  • Prepare fee proposals and task orders

  • Undertake highway/traffic engineering projects from feasibility to detailed design

  • Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief

  • Manage sub-consultants to produce deliverables against agreed timescales and in line with budget

  • Sharing knowledge and supporting team to create a collaborative work environment.

  • Day to day client point of contact for projects

  • Highly Familiar with relevant Health and Safety regulations and to promote a culture of awareness within the team.

  • Following successful accreditation on the AECOM project management system act as a Project Manager including monitoring financial performance. Comprehensive training on AECOM’s project management system will be provided.

  • Attend and chair project progress meetings as and when required

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience of public/private sector

  • Excellent knowledge of emerging best practices in transport, traffic, highway and urban design

  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills

  • Experience of applying the principles of DMRB, the Traffic Signs Manual and MX Design for urban and rural situations

Preferred Qualifications

  • HND, BEng or MEng degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant subject

  • Demonstrate experience and knowledge of developing feasibility, preliminary and detailed design schemes

  • Experience of working in another comparable consultancy or local authority environment at this level

  • Knowledge of local and national design standards
