Job Summary

We have an excellent opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our AECOM team based in Brisbane. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the team’s skill development, develop business opportunities and complete checks of technical documents.

This role requires the successful candidate to plan, evaluate, design, manage and contribute to the timely delivery of projects (or components thereof) with the available resources and within task and project budgets. The successful candidate will also be required to compile and prepare competitive proposals; presentations, technical reports and liaise with clients to ensure continuity of work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve your technical competence in the field of Engineering Geology/Geotechnical Engineering as it applies to the commercial activities of the company;

  • Geohazard assessment, geological mapping and geotechnical site investigations, initially under the guidance of experienced engineering geologists

  • 2D and 3D geological modelling of sites to display structural geology and geotechnical properties.

  • Perform analysis, undertake field observations and carry out geological and geotechnical reporting to support projects from field work through to detailed design.

  • Assist in developing a pipeline of opportunities within the target market area/for target clients

  • Assist with business development and preparing proposals for geotechnical investigations and designs.

  • Project planning and management.

  • Develop strong relationships with existing and new clients by delivering excellence and providing a high level of communication and assistance.

  • Work across AECOM business lines to provide assistance and support to infrastructure projects, mining and any other types of business relevant to the geotechnical works being undertaken in Queensland or in other geographies

Minimum Requirements

  • A Tertiary qualification in Geology or Civil / Geotechnical Engineering

  • Around 3-5 years postgraduate experience

  • Understanding of processes and tasks regularly addressed within an engineering design consultancy including regulatory HS&E requirements.

  • Capable of scoping and leading geotechnical investigations and undertake field evaluations of slopes and foundation assessments.

  • Ability to provide technical support to team members when undertaking design elements for a project.

  • Competent in the use of systems such as Project Management tools

  • Strong software skills in programs such as gINT and ArcGIS. Other packages such as Slope W/Slide, Plaxis/Phase (2D), WALLAP, Dips, Swedge or Similar would be looked upon favourably.
