AECOM Water Resources Engineer in Boston, Massachusetts

Job Summary

AECOM has a position available for a mid-level Water Resources Engineer in our Chelmsford, MA office. The successful candidate will bring technical expertise and specialized consulting skills in water and natural resources including but not limited to hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, riverine and coastal hydrodynamics, floodplain management, sediment transport and bridge scour, and water quality

The general responsibilities for this role include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • The ideal candidate will work productively in a collaborative team environment, and expected to provide leadership and mentoring to junior staff.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results.

Minimum Requirements

BS degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering

4+ years of relevant water and natural resources experience to include one or more of the following:

  • hydrologic and hydraulic modeling,

  • riverine and coastal hydrodynamics,

  • floodplain management,

  • sediment transport and bridge scour,

  • water quality.

Registered Professional Engineer in at least one of the New England States or able to obtain a PE license within 6 months of hire

Past experience with one or more of the water resource models such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, HydroCAD, EPA BASINS, MODFLOW,

The ability to lead design projects on various water applications including storm water management is required

This position requires strong GIS and CADD skills, extensive experience with quantitative analysis, as well as demonstrated design experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Civil or Environmental or related field

  • 6-10 years of experience preferred

  • Demonstration of past experience in proposal development and project management is a plus
