AECOM Site Safety Officer in Boston, Massachusetts

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Construction Site Safety Officer for immediate employment on an extensive railroad rehabilitation project . This position will be a direct report to the Program Safety Manager including parallel reporting to the AECOM Area / Regional SHE Manager(s) with direct communications with construction site staff and the client.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Primary role is to support and coach AECOM, Contractor’s, Sub-Contractor’s, and (if applicable) Vendor’s employees and supervision in safe work behaviors and conditions in the workplace.

  • Work collaboratively with the Contractor and Sub-Contractor’s SH&E personnel to assess and manage safety performance in the field.

  • Monitor and prevent hazards throughout the work site.

  • Significant time will be spent out with the workforce observing and interacting with supervision and craft (70%).

  • Support Contractor and/or Client Behavior Based Observation programs

o Conduct or perform observations with the leadership team

o Support and Coach team members on how to conduct observations

o Review observations that are performed to identify trends or areas where increased focus may be needed.

  • Establish and take necessary action to investigate unsafe work practices

  • Participate in all construction status meetings, covering all health and safety topics, recommendations and requests

  • Assist with the program-wide safety program, including initial and recurrent training materials

  • Participate in client safety meetings and programs as requested

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS plus 4 years of more of demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS plus 6 years of more of demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Further industry recognized credentials (i.e. CSP, CHST, CRIS, CSS etc.) are favorable.

  • 8 hr HAZWOPER supervisor and OSHA 500/501 training is preferred.
