AECOM Marine Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts

AECOM is seeking a Marine Scientist to be responsible for the successful execution (in office and field-offshore) for AECOM’s offshore wind, oil and gas, energy, industrial and federal markets. To be successful, this individual must have strong technical capabilities in ecosystem ecology, must have a strong ability to write and review technical documents, strong understanding of applicable regulations (BOEM, NEPA, OPA, CWA) and a proven team player. The individual must have strong interpersonal skills and work well in a team environment. The individual should also have a relevant technical background in marine ecological studies and experience in planning and managing projects serving the industry.
The role can be based out of our Boston, Chelmsford, Pocasset, Providence or Rocky Hill offices.
Specific responsibilities include:
Contributing and co-authoring and reviewing complex technical documents for coastal and offshore ecosystems.
Participate in near-shore and offshore marine surveys for marine biological, chemical and physical studies supporting technical report preparation.
Ability to oversee collection and analysis of large spatially explicit data sets.
Assist with scoping inshore and offshore marine field programs.
Working closely in a team setting with other AECOM’s marine services and natural resource scientists...
Assisting in helping with pursuits for Offshore Wind Projects in support of developers (BOEM SAP/COP) and potentially supporting BOEM for Third Party EIS support.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline, such as ecology, marine biology, environmental engineering, or other environmental discipline.
4+ years of scientific and/or technical experience working in related technical field, or equivalent experience.
Experience assisting in large technical programs to government and industry clients.
Experience managing relationships with collaborators and clients.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with collaborators, subcontractors and research organizations.
Ability to write and review complex technical documents in the field of ecosystem ecology, perform high level statistical and analytical work, manage large GIS and remote sensing data bases and lead field crews in complex logistical settings.
Computer proficient in MS Office, ESRI ARC GIS, and a variety of statistical programs.
Master’s or Ph.D degree in a relevant technical discipline, such marine ecology, environmental engineering or other environmental discipline.
5-10 years of scientific and/or technical experience (consulting environment) working in related technical field, or equivalent experience.
Ability to travel and give client focused presentations, with up to 25% of time away from the office
