Job Summary

The Rail Systems Group is actively seeking creative, highly talented Overhead Contact Systems (Catenary) Engineers for immediate employment in various AECOM offices across MA, CT, PA, NY and NJ. We are seeking all level of professionals. The appropriately qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate the ability to perform design calculations, learn and apply new material efficiently, and support the Rail Systems Group during design and construction projects. We are proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects, including design and construction of new light rail and streetcar systems across the US and Canada. Typical projects also include design for local commuter rail systems such as MBTA, Amtrak, Metro North and New Jersey Transit.

Responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Exercise limited judgment to accomplish assigned tasks

  • Prepare calculations requiring the application of relevant codes and standards

  • CAD work in AutoCAD and MicroStation

  • BIM/Revit design

  • Participate in project working meetings and take meeting minutes

  • Assist with cost estimating for design and construction

  • Assist with responding to construction submittals

  • Assist with inspections at project sites (around the country)

  • Edit, and format technical reports and specifications

  • Ad hoc tasks, including assisting our Traction Power Engineers

Minimum Requirements

  • EIT or ability to obtain EIT within 6 months of hire

  • Interest in Electrified Rail Transportation

  • Basic drafting skills in AutoCAD, MicroStation and BIM/Revit

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Able to travel, less than 10% of time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered PE

  • Experience in Electrified Rail Transportation
