The Tunnelling Group includes dedicated teams of technical and project delivery specialists based at our centres of excellence in Birmingham and Croydon.
The scope and portfolio of work being delivered by the Tunnelling Group is wide ranging from feasibility through to detailed design and construction support. Key projects currently being delivered include Hinkley Point C, HS2 Phase 2b and Thames Tideway. The team is also actively supporting infrastructure projects in the Middle East and Europe. We pride ourselves on our technical excellence, offering buildable and safe design solutions.
Our Midlands office, in the very centre of Birmingham, is seeking to employ an ambitious and enthusiastic Engineer to support our growing team of professionals.
This will be a challenging role where we will encourage and support your versatile approach to help you build on your existing engineering knowledge.

Minimum Requirements for the role:
A good Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering / Engineering Geology
A Master’s degree in Tunnelling and Underground Construction would be advantageous
Minimum design experience
Chartered or working towards Chartered status
And supporting these minimum requirements:
An understanding of Eurocodes, appropriate design standards and best practice
Design of tunnels, shafts and deep excavation in any or all of the following: Sprayed Concrete and Precast Concrete Segmental linings; Diaphragm Wall and Contiguous Piles.
Good application of Empirical and Finite Element analyses for soil structure interactions
Experienced in the use of structural analysis software
An understanding of construction methods and their impacts on design
Key responsibilities will be:
Prepare designs and design reports
Support members of your team
Liaise effectively with internal and external clients
Be responsible for managing your time
Manage change control and understand these impacts on your teammates and project delivery
Participate in the wider engineering community
