Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignements.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design
elements for engineering works.
Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
The main purpose of this role is to lead in the growth and development of the AECOM buildings business (structures). The position is suited to someone who will be able to mentor the less experienced staff as well as undertake projects of all sizes from conception to completion. You will be providing design and analysis solutions to building structures problems in varying types of materials using industry standard modelling software.
Projects will generally be within the Midlands Region but some will be located outside this region requiring occasional travel to meetings and construction sites.
Front end engineering and design consulting skills. It may require global client interaction as well. This is not a back office role and may include some travel.
Leading by example, value engineering, knowledge of modern computational methods and technology along with financial control skills are desired.
Integration with other disciplines and leading the structural design team to develop technically sound structural design solutions conforming to European standards and best practices whilst maintaining a high level of checking of work being issued.
Discuss and understand complete scope of work and the specific project requirements and organize a team to execute the work in a given time frame.
Provide high level value engineering led technical expertise when applying structural engineering principles, techniques and methods to the planning and design of building design projects.
Appreciation of Integrated Project Delivery approach and technologies like BIM (Building information Management) are desired.
Ensure all quality and environmental aspects of the project are identified and addressed to maintain effective operation and project delivery.
High level of working knowledge of structural analysis packages
Ability to use CAD/Revit
Good communication including Microsoft Office packages
Good understanding of project finances
Ability to mentor other staff
Experience on working in Structural Engineering design projects.
Preferable experience of design in commercial, retail, hospitality, residential, manufacturing and high rise projects using latest design and construction technologies. Design of large office blocks and airport projects will be an added value.
Design experience in international projects would be an excellent plus.
Experience in the design of heavy and medium industrial steel structures will be added plus.
Must have knowledge of governing structural design standards Eurocodes, BS, Building Regulations etc.
Membership of recognized professional institutions
Should be a chartered engineer or working towards
Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering
Masters in Structural engineering (preferable)
Either Chartered or actively working towards it.
