Job Summary

AECOM is seeking to fill another 7 months contract vacancy for a Project Assistant to join to the Ecology team and focus on land access for surveying. There will be the opportunity to gain experience in ecology surveys if desired by the candidate. This Project Assistance role will be primarily office based in Birmingham city centre, and will entail working within a large project co-ordination team on any required tasks (mainly land access) to help deliver ecology surveys within EWC North for HS2.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Working within the land access team on a variety of tasks;

  • liaise with survey scheduling team to ensure correct land parcels are visited;

  • speaking to landowners to arrange land access;

  • update existing land access information using spreadsheets;

  • attendance at meetings with stakeholders / clients;

  • writing Schedule 2 letters;

  • co-ordination of Schedule 2 notices and letter delivery;

  • Undertaking other tasks which add value to the development of the ecology team or support wider environmental business goals, as required.

Minimum Requirements

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Aware of client expectations, a team player and will have a positive attitude;

  • Professional, organised and able to demonstrate a thorough approach to work and an attention to detail to get things right first time;

  • Comfortable working within a team and to tight deadlines;

  • Transferable skills including use of excel and word;

  • An ability to write clearly with good grammar and spelling;

  • Able to demonstrate a flexible approach to working hours to meet the demands of the role, including occasional longer/and or unsociable hours.

Awareness of legal requirements with regard to land access / land referencing would be beneficial but not a pre-requisite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ​The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree in either the biological sciences, social sciences, computing, law or business.

  • An eagerness to be involved in the local Ecology project works
