AECOM Technical Head of MEICA (Water Ports and Power) in Belfast, United Kingdom

AECOM are looking to hire a Technical Head of MEICA. The role can be based out of a number of our offices throughout the UK & Ireland. This is a key role within our Water, Ports & Power Team and will have the following responsibilities:
Owns WPP UKI technical performance in their discipline.
Assists in resource allocation to ensure quality of delivery is as important as all other considerations.
Is a lead interface point for marketing (thought leadership) and work winning (bid support) activity.
Is a Technical Practice Group (TPG) Leader in a group related to their discipline (with related duties)
Coordinates within a network of related TPGs and Lead Verifiers to encourage knowledge and skill sharing.
Does not need to be an expert in all aspects of their discipline - just know who is by providing leadership in the area.
Focal point for technical area (e.g. ‘MEICA Engineering’)
Collect and share knowledge/best practice
Link up people and opportunities using related TPG Leaders (these are already in place)
Regular webex with UKI staff aligned with the practice
Close working with the digital transformation initiative and Digital Lead WPP UKI
Publish regular thought-leadership, 6-monthly minimum
Be visible, prominent at industry events
Support resourcing and work-winning
Get the right staff onto projects
Enable mobility through forward planning
Identify recruitment needs and support the hire process
Identify training needs for staff and provide development plans
Support CAMs with client meetings and proposal development=
Ensure delivery quality
Add value through engineering reviews
Set standards and templates, managing upload and review of standards for their geography/discipline to the TSSR system
Lead technically on our most complex/high risk projects
The Technical Head will continue to be predominantly engaged in project delivery. An assessment of the non-productive time required to ensure the role is effective will be made on an ongoing and role by role basis.
Management role in a similar engineering position within an engineering contracting or consultancy organisation.
Management of multi disciplinary teams.
Technical verification of engineering documents.
Management and development of engineering standards within a similar organisation.
Preferred Qualification BSc or Masters in Mechanical or electrical engineering.
