Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Grant Specialist Engineer for immediate employment for the Baton Rouge, LA office.

The Grant Specialist will assist with the implementation of Disaster Recovery Programs. The Grant Specialist should maintain a complete understanding of all applicable Program policies and requirements.

The Grant Specialist will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide Quality Control review of award determinations and calculations on CDBG grants;

  • Monitor program funding limits and applicant waitlists, as needed;

  • Monitor construction contractor maximum contract requirements opposite assignments;

  • Process funding de-obligation requests;

  • Support Case Management team with calculation of grants and Duplication of Benefits determinations;

  • Monitor program compliance with applicable HUD and CDBG regulations, including but not limited to the Stafford Act;

  • Perform applicant file close-out reviews at completion of construction

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma

  • Experience with CDBG housing and/or FEMA hazard mitigation programs or similar programs/projects;

  • 2+ years of professional level experience in finance or grant management;

  • Experience in administering grant funding and implementation at the federal, state or local levels of government;

  • Specific knowledge of HUD and CDBG requirements and policies, including but not limited to Section 504, fair housing, and the Stafford Act;

  • Must possess flexibility to respond to and manage different tasks, often with competing priorities;

  • Advanced time management skills which utilize high-level strategies that aid staff in managing time, productivity, and effectiveness.

  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Word

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; relevant advanced degrees and/or certifications are preferred

  • 5+ years of disaster recovery industry experience preferred

  • Advanced level Microsoft Office skills; ability to import, create formulas, pivot tables, export data and run reports in Microsoft Excel; ability to quickly learn new software applications
