Position Title Senior Aquatic Ecologist

AECOM's Aquatic Ecology team is expanding and we’re looking for an experienced new team member to join us. The role is based in our Basingstoke office where you’ll join a technically diverse and enthusiastic team.
Our Aquatic Ecology team currently has 16 freshwater and marine ecologists based around the UK and Ireland. To help develop on the team’s skill set we’d like you to have demonstrable experience in freshwater and/or marine ecology, particularly fisheries.
We are looking for a keen and confident aquatic ecologist who can offer the following;
Be an inclusive and friendly team member
Enjoy owning a task, with an informed and proactive approach
A willingness to collaborate, with other ecologists and across a variety of adjacent teams
Be able to communicate at all levels and effectively share your knowledge and experience
- Contribute to field work in a range of aquatic habitats, freshwater, estuarine and marine,
(macroinvertebrates, fish, crayfish, macrophytes, riparian mammals, River Habitat Survey etc) and provide support for the delivery of existing and new contracts.
Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in particular the ability to write concise technical reports;
Positively engage with Health and Safety issues associated with working in, on & near water and in relation to the operation of our aquatic ecology laboratory.
AECOM’s UK Ecology Team comprises over 100 ecologists based across the UK and covers all terrestrial, freshwater and marine habitats. We provide our clients with the full range of ecological services including specialist habitat and species surveys, impact assessment, advice on biodiversity mitigation, offsetting and enhancement, and management planning for biodiversity.
Our projects include high profile major transport and infrastructure schemes, conventional and renewable power development, as well as other industrial and commercial development projects.
Recognised degree in a biological, science or related discipline – a relevant post graduate qualification in the one of these would be advantageous;
Member of CIEEM, CIWEM or similar professional body; or eligible to qualify for this status;
Water Safety Training or equivalent (inland or offshore/sea survival);
Powerboat handling certificate (e.g. RYA Level 2);
First Aid qualification (e.g. Emergency First Aid at Work);
Licensed to drive a vehicle in the UK.
