AECOM Archaeology Technician III in Barrie, Ontario
AECOM is seeking numerous Archaeological Field Technician III to be based out of multiple Ontario offices.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Performs standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations.
Conducts a variety of standardized tests and may prepare specimens; Sets up and operates standard laboratory testing equipment of moderate complexity.
Records test data and provides observation and interpretations of it.
Performs fieldwork, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections at client sites.
Other activities may include assisting with calculations, setting up and operating equipment, inspecting equipment and installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining proper project documentation.

4+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Must be able to perform strenuous archaeological fieldwork (lift up to 40lbs & be capable of repetitive movement)
Must be willing to work out of town, across Ontario for extended periods of time
Excavate in a consistent & controlled manner with ability to recognize & collect cultural material
Support Field Supervisor with technical aspects of archaeology & leading the team
Demonstrate knowledge of MHSTCI Standards & Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists
Ability to work & collaborate effectively in a team environment
Willing to continually learn & take direction
Communicate information, issues, concerns related to the site work in an effective & professional manner to Field Supervisor
Attend work prepared for all weather conditions, ensuring appropriate weather gear is readily available.
Leading by example, taking ownership for responsibilities
Provide leadership support to Field Supervisor
Carry out Stage 2-4 archaeological field work under the direction of experienced archaeologists
Expected to prioritize Health & Safety & follow all AECOM procedures including strict Covid-19 measures.
Sensitivity & awareness combined with a respectful attitude towards Indigenous culture & people is a must.
Valid driver’s license is preferred.
Reliable transportation to & from assigned office or designated project meet spot essential.
Relocation is not available for this position.
