Job Summary

The Water Business Unit of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Civil Engineer for immediate employment in Baltimore, MD office location. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate the potential for success in Civil Engineering specific to water and wastewater treatment, collection and distribution. The incumbent can look forward to projects including water and wastewater treatment and conveyance design.

Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer:

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives

  • Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids

  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering or other related field required

Coursework in water and/or wastewater treatment, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, water quality analysis, other water related courses

Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)

Valid driver’s license required

Preferred Qualifications

M.S or Ph.D in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field

Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)

Previous Internship experience with similar work

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools

Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present and discuss technical content with clients, regulatory agency staff, and the public

Must be highly self-motivated with the ability to successfully multi-task, perform detail oriented work, and demonstrate effective time management skills
