Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented and high-energized Project Staff / Field Technician I for the Bakersfield, CA office. The Project Staff will provide project coordination support to implement projects within the established safety protocols, means and methods. The Project Staff will be a key member of the Phillips 66 and Chevron Program Management Organization and participate in project execution and disseminate project information.

Responsibilities of this position, include but not limited:

  • Provide field oversight of subcontractor field teams performing work related to pipeline verification and abandonment activities and facility abandonment scoping.

  • Provide fieldwork oversight of subcontractor field teams performing work related to soil remediation, groundwater monitoring and sampling, and assets surveying.

  • Provides guidance and direction to subcontractors when addressing project complexities with respect to health and safety, scope of work tasks, schedule and regulatory compliance.

  • Assist Construction Manager with managing all aspects of the fieldwork, including health and safety, data gathering, data reporting and internal communications with subcontractors and project manager.

  • Make fieldwork decisions in accordance with established project plans, scope of work goals, and established timelines.

  • Monitor and record fieldwork tasks completed, equipment onsite, subcontractor staff onsite, visitors onsite and compliance with permit conditions.

  • Generate weekly and daily progress reports noting tasks performed, changes in scope of work and fieldwork delays.

  • Assistance with development of weekly fieldwork schedules and subcontractor resource assignments.

  • Coordinate with Construction Manager and Project Manager changes to project scope and schedules to ensure compliance with planned activities, timelines, and major milestones.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Must have a strong understanding of the construction industry health and safety protocols, procedures and reporting requirements.

  • Must have strong written, oral, and verbal communication skills.

  • Must have organized and the ability to follow documentation protocols.

  • Must be a self-starter and able to drive project task forward with minimal supervision.

  • Must possess solid interpersonal skills and work well in a team environment.

  • Must have completed the 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations (HAZWOPER) training and have current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher training (if applicable).

  • Must have completed 8-hr HAZWOPER Supervisor training or acquire within six months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in mechanical, construction, pipeline, or equivalent technical field experience.

  • Experience in oil field operations.

  • Knowledgeable in environmental soil, vapor and groundwater sampling.

  • Strong computer skills with MS Office, Adobe editing, portable electronic devices, and general networks.
