AECOM is hiring for DoD projects supporting US Forces in Operation Inherent Resolve. This is a Contingent Task Order with personnel deployed with the U.S. military at joint installations in Iraq. Services provided under this Task Order include response to environmental issues facing the U.S. military, including solid waste recycling, responding to fuel spills, and providing Subject Matter Expertise and other specialized support for various Environmental Corrective Actions in theatre.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Provide technical expertise to the application of environmental remediation/protection concepts, hazardous materials management, spill response, environmental corrective actions, and other relevant items
Plan, coordinate, evaluate, and review all phases of task order relevant to above mentioned concepts
Other duties that may arise
This is a deployed assignment in Iraq. Austere living conditions and travel from primary base of operations to Forward Operating Locations is required. Candidate must be physically and mentally fit for duty.
A minimum of 4 years’ experience conducting environmental assessments such as Environmental Site Closure Surveys (ESCS), Environmental Condition Reports (ECR), etc. Experience in POL soil corrective action, spill response, Underground Storage Tanks and Aboveground Storage Tank removal is highly desired. The Environmental Specialist should have a minimum of 4 years demonstrated experience directly managing Environmental Remediation projects. This position would provide expertise and support to all Site Teams, to assist with development of clear, accurate reports. Evaluates need for changes and makes appropriate recommendations. Working knowledge of different environmental systems
Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check
Must also complete and pass any required government security clearance
Must pass pre-employment drug screen
Must participate in and successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment fitness for duty questionnaire
Must also complete Fort Bliss’ Conus Replacement Center physical and medical testing as required
Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in outdoor environments with uneven terrain, variable outdoor conditions including heat, dust, noise, and chemicals (e.g., fuel oil, lubricants, etc.); position requires often operation of vehicles, lifting of less than 25 pounds, keyboard/mouse operations, and work around heavy, moving, dangerous equipment; occasionally working with arms above shoulder level, repetitive bending & stooping, standing/walking, power gripping/squeezing (hand tools, levers, etc.), using portable ladders (weight must be 300 lbs. or less), wearing fall protection (weight must be 310 lbs. or less), operating of heavy, moving or dangerous equipment, performing repetitive fine hand movements, and lifting of 25-50 pounds; rarely working at heights, climbing stairs, performing work on electrical circuits, work in confined spaces, working alone on isolated/remote areas, and lifting of greater than 50 ->75 pounds. Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection
6+ years of experience conducting environmental assessments such as Environmental Site Closure Surveys (ESCS), Environmental Condition Reports (ECR), etc.
Previous environmental management experience in austere environments
Previous experience supporting U.S. military environmental efforts
Previous experience working within the CENTCOM Area of Responsibility
Relevant Industry or HSE certifications (e.g.CSP, OSHT, CHMM, REM, PG)
