Job Summary

AECOM Program Management is seeking an Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support new construction building commissioning and existing building retro-commissioning projects. The qualified candidate will have proven past performance in engineering design and construction in the healthcare, mission critical, DoD, higher education, and the K-12 market. The candidate will interface daily with both AECOM design and construction professionals well as clients, construction personnel, and facility managers. Position requires 50% onsite presence during the installation, startup, and functional testing of electrical distribution systems.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Possess project specific knowledge of the program’s commissioning requirements as defined in the project specifications and commissioning plan.

  • Manage and lead the overall project including technical, financial, and client satisfaction

  • Accountable for the development, coordination, and execution of the design phase, construction phase, testing/training phase, warranty phase activities, final commissioning report and personnel under his/her direction

  • Establish the scope, work plan and work schedule and ensure this is communicated to the Project staff and Department Managers

  • Must have a thorough understanding of the responsibilities to both the Company and the client as set forth by the contractual agreement

  • Ensure that programs are conducted within budget and on schedule

  • Perform Electrical Commissioning Reviews of construction documents

  • Attend and actively participate project coordination meetings

  • Lead field commissioning coordination meetings.

  • Record and distribute commissioning coordination meeting minutes.

  • Review Shop Drawings and Equipment Submittals

  • Develop Pre-functional Construction Checklists for Electrical Equipment and Systems

  • Develop Functional Test Procedures for Electrical Systems

  • Perform Construction/Installation Observations

  • Evaluate equipment and building control/SCADA system installations with respect to contract documents and industry standards

  • Evaluate equipment and building control system installations with respect to the construction schedule

  • Provide detailed daily construction observation reports or as required when working on a project location.

  • Assist in the Training of Facility Operators on Electrical Equipment and Systems

  • Witness Electrical and PLC Startup Procedures

  • Witness/Backcheck NETA Electrical Acceptance Test Results

  • Perform Functional Test Procedures for Electrical Systems

  • Assist in Troubleshooting Electrical, PLC and Control Systems

  • Position requires 50% construction site presence

  • 25% Overnight Travel may be required

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma

  • 8+ years related experience

  • Master Electrician

  • Commissioning Certification

  • Experience with Electrical Design, Installation, Construction, Testing experience, Construction Administration, Project Management

  • Electrical Construction Expertise

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 10+ years related experience

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

  • Strong technical skills in facility system design, construction and operations

  • Expert level knowledge in the installation, calibration, checkout, and troubleshooting of Electrical Controls and PLCs

  • Excellent problem solving skills

  • Ability to conduct technical presentations and discuss commissioning subject matter with authority
