AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Construction Engineer II for immediate employment in the Laurel, Maryland but will report to the Arlington, VA office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Performs assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Exercises judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. Project Manager screens assignments and provides guidance in techniques and procedures to be applied. Receives supervision on all aspects of assignments.
Time and accurate interpretation of design documents to facilitate problem solutions.
Support the Project Manager and other project personnel with estimating, project documentation and general project administration.
Monitor field and/or contract work to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures and construction documents and codes.
Responsible for clear and tractable document control in accordance with established policies and procedures, including utilizing management systems to create/track RFI’s, transmit/track submittals, and maintain project expediting list.
Attend and actively participate in project coordination and owner/contractor/architect/engineer meetings, document meeting actions and follow up activities as requested or required.
Perform additional duties and assignments as assumed or directed by project manager.
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant experience
5+ years of experience
Project oversight, document review, inspection, QA/QC, contractor supervision and coordination
Highly motivated self-starter
Working knowledge of assigned discipline design and overall engineering standards is necessary
Must be proficient in MS Office
Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others a must
Ability to multi-task and identify priority activities
Ability to drive team deliverables in a professionally assertive manner
Experience with various construction project management software (e.g. Newforma, Procore, Constructware)
Experience with a General Contractor, large Construction Management or Engineering firm
