Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Mechanical Engineer Intern for summer employment for our office in Arlington, VA. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior level team member

  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software (AutoCAD, Revit, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace)

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks

  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives

  • Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids

  • Assist with the mechanical design of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems for commercial, governmental, and institutional facilities

  • Perform field investigations for incorporation of existing conditions into construction documents

  • Work within a project team environment and coordinate work with other project disciplines

  • Maintain and organize all project-related documentation

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision

Minimum Requirements

  • AA/AS (US) + None or Diploma/Certification (Canada) + None

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrolled to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering from a 4 or 5 year ABET accredited college or university.

  • Good communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.

  • HVAC design classes or internships

  • Revit
