AECOM Sr Electrical Engineer in Annapolis Junction, Maryland

Job Summary

AECOM has an opportunity for a

Senior Electrical Engineer at our Annapolis Junction, MD office. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing the discipline engineering to meet customer and project requirements regarding scope, scheduling and budget. Acts as a liaison between discipline engineers and Project Engineering Managers and between Project Managers and Chief Discipline Engineer with respect to project scope, budget, scheduling and overall engineering and design requirements and employee administration.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the discipline's engineering with that of other disciplines.

  • Maintain records, files and other documents pertaining to the discipline.

  • Assume responsibility for ensuring that engineering documents comply with applicable state laws/regulations, including affixing registered engineer seal when required.

  • Assign preparers and checkers for discipline design documents (or other deliverable) and coordinates review with other disciplines’ design documents.

  • Establish schedules and budgets to meet project requirements and obtains approval.

  • Maintain technical coordination with the Chief Discipline Engineer to ensure adherence to industry codes, regulatory requirements and sound engineering practices.

  • Prepare and submit periodic reports and forecasts on the status of the discipline.

  • Comply with state requirements for continuing education, maintains and obtains licenses as requested.

  • Continually upgrade technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training.

  • Advises the Project Engineering Manager regarding status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems

  • Provides Chief Discipline Engineer input on employees’ development, evaluations, potential promotions and the overall technical improvement of the group.

  • Lead the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements for a project and can monitor the effect of these on the budget.

  • Able to lead all aspects of project estimating for a discipline for proposal preparation.

  • Responsible for performance management and mentoring.

  • Provide assistance to projects to address technical issues related to process improvement.

  • Assist in the development of training programs within area of technical expertise and conducts training sessions as appropriate.

  • Create positive working relationships with peer leaders.

  • Create productive relationships with organizations both within and external to Engineering.

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.

  • Must have an active, fully adjudicated TS security clearance.

  • Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four year accredited college or university.

  • 10+ years of professional experience with 3 years of supervisory experience.

  • Professional Engineering License required.

  • Advanced knowledge of business development concepts and leads the project proposal process.

  • Advanced knowledge and leads the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements for a project and can monitor the effect of these on budget limitations.

  • Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.

  • Position may require travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • TS/SCI w/poly preferred.
