Job Summary

Savannah River Remediation, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking a Senior Quality Control Engineer to be based in our Aiken, SC location.

Provides quality control support to operations, construction project teams and directs personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results. Performs quality control inspection and surveillance activities in support of project work and/or maintenance activities.


  • Establishes priorities supporting Construction/Operation’s needs.

  • Reviews design output documents in accordance with approved procedures in order to establish inspection requirements in quality assurance procedures, construction plans, and/or work packages.

  • Coordinates with internal and external sources to resolve quality issues and provides status of the inspection/test activities for the work activity.

  • Reviews technical criteria, personnel qualifications and work sequence on work packages including the notation of hold points prior to performance of inspections.

  • Performs or directs the quality inspection activities of subordinate QC engineers/inspectors and other inspection personnel as assigned.

  • Assists in resolution of code, specifications and drawing interpretations.

  • Performs or supervises the performance of inspection, witness, test, surveillance, and documents the results of the inspection activities.

  • Assesses the completeness of quality related activities and quality verification documentation prior to preparation of quality control releases for turnover.

  • Reviews suppliers or subcontractor's quality program for compliance to established procedures, attends mobilization meetings and monitors their activities for proper implementation.

  • Reviews suppliers and/or subcontractor's quality verification documentation for traceability and specification compliance.

  • Reviews, assesses and statuses subcontractor’s costs, manpower and materials.

  • Approves suppliers and/or subcontract invoices and application for payment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and 5+ years of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas OR

  • Associate's degree and 7+ years of practical experience described above OR

  • High School diploma or GED and 10+ years of practical experience described above.

  • Two years’ experience in Nuclear Quality Program construction/operations quality control activities.

  • Physically capable to obtain Radiation Worker qualifications including respiratory protection, capable to access construction sites such as climb ladders, access heights in lifts, etc.

  • Due to nature of work must be US citizen.

Note: A two-year technical diploma will be considered equivalent to an associate's degree.

Certification with continuing technical training is required for performance of inspections and surveillance activities. Specialized training may also be required to support certain technical areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical degree preferred

  • Previous/current multi-discipline quality certifications, piping, welding and NDE, electrical, mechanical

  • Current or previous NQA-1 auditor or lead auditor (or equivalent) qualification

  • Current Savannah River Site or qualifications.

  • ASNT TC 1A Level II or Level III inspection certifications
