AECOM Senior Engineer A - Nuclear Criticality Engineer in Aiken, South Carolina

Job Summary

Plan and develop nuclear safety related engineering and scientific solutions for technical problems or project objectives using SRR engineering methodologies and requirements. Assist more senior engineering personnel in performing related nuclear safety activities on more complex tasks.

Assume technical responsibility for performance of nuclear safety criticality analyses (NCSE/NCSA) supporting one or more phases of a program and/or ownership for unit operations within liquid waste processing facilities. Collaborate with colleagues to provide innovative improvements to the existing processes.

Specific job responsibilities many involve the following assignments: nuclear safety hazards assessments, criticality safety analysis, safety analysis technical calculations and reviews, and safety analysis development.

Minimum Requirements

  • BS Degree in Nuclear Engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university with 6+ years professional engineering experience; or

  • MS Degree in Nuclear Engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university with 4+ years professional engineering experience; or

  • PhD Degree in Nuclear Engineering discipline, or applicable science, from an accredited college or university, with 2+ years professional engineering experience

  • Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of advanced nuclear engineering principles with a focus on criticality safety analysis and practices to develop appropriate outputs.

  • Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards, including DOE Order 420.1C and ANSI/ANS nuclear criticality safety standards.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a changing environment with multiple demands and priorities.

  • Good organizational and communication skills. Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly, both verbally and in writing.
