Job Summary

Savannah River Remediation, an LLC of AECOM is seeking a Manager – Structural Authority and Inspection Engineering to be based in our Aiken, SC location.

Position Description:

Responsible for leading and managing a group of professional structural and inspection engineering technical resources comprised of engineers and other professionals. Manages resources to provide successful engineering deliverables in support of the High Level Waste Tank Farm Facilities, Defense Waste Processing Facility (DWPF) and Saltstone facility. Defines objectives, develops strategies, and manages design authority resources to achieve goals based upon effective interaction with management/customers

Responsibilities

  • Manages the Structural Integrity Program for equipment viability verification through inspections

  • Manages In-Service Inspection (ISI) Program for Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and video/camera integrity verification of High Level Waste Tanks

  • Engineering Subject Matter Expert/point of contact with other DOE facilities on issues relating to High Level Waste Tanks

  • Provides input, review and approval of Design Temporary Modifications and Modification Travelers (MT) for DWPF, Z Area, H&F Tank Farms & Effluent Treatment Plant

  • Reviews/approves Asset Suite work packages for crane placements and Waste Tank Top/Secondary Containment loadings

  • Performs analyses of loads on structures during erection of radiological containments per S4-ENG.25, 8Q-16 & S4-MNT.01

  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) guidance on Concentrate Storage and Transfer (CST) Safety Basis application to Structures, Systems and Components (SSCs)

  • Provides Design Authority advice for Critical Lift Program, Excavation & Backfill Program

  • Structural Authority responsibilities for excavation and repair of failed transfer line systems.

  • Provides design input guidance to Design Aauthorities concerning engineering standards 1060 & 1061 codes & standards and seismic/wind II/I

  • Provides seismic design criteria input and temporary shielding evaluations and tracking

  • Manages the SRR Deputy Authority position that has jurisdiction (IBC) for all major building construction

  • Provides Code of record interpretations for older facilities

  • Provides guidance, direction and support to direct reports to resolve questions, issues, and other matters ranging from technical to personnel in nature

  • Active member of the SRR expanded staff, available for developmental roles and support of senior management objectives

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • BS in Engineering and 10+ years of progressive professional engineering experience. Post-secondary education may reduce the years of experience required for entry.

  • Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen.

  • Previous experience in a Structural lead position on US Department of Energy or other US government managed site

  • Demonstrated ability and/or experience in leadership
