Job Description

The AECOM Bridge Construction Inspection Team in Edmonton is seeking a self motivated, team oriented Bridge Construction Inspector for projects in Alberta. The position will primarily support project management and design teams by executing the role of on site quality assurance and contract administration for bridge projects. The expectation Is that these projects will be in rural areas, including Drumheller.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Review of contractor submissions and coordinate the responses with the AECOM design team.

  • Monitor contract quantities and prepare contractor progress estimates.

  • Inspect contractor work for compliance with contract requirements.

  • Chair project meetings and prepare minutes.

  • Review contractors quality control to ensure contract requirements are being met.

  • Prepare inspection reports and other documents required by the client.

  • Maintain a written daily diary of pertinent conversations and occurrences on a project site.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results.

  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Technical Diploma + 4 years of relevant experience in bridge construction

  • Driving License

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor Degree in a relevant engineering discipline: civil, construction, structural, is strongly preferred

  • 10+ years in the bridge construction industry

  • Previous inspection experience with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors (TEC) bridge projects.

  • Safety training and experience related to bridge construction.

  • Direct communication with clients and experience in maintaining effective working relationships.

  • Experience with TEC specifications and processes.

  • Familiarity with a partnered approach to delivering a project.

  • Previous AB Transportation bridge inspection experience

  • AB Transportation BIM Certification

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $70,000.00 - $95,000.00.
